The mission of Scouts BSA is to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law.

Pack 201 is dedicated to this mission.

Scout Oath
On my honor I will do my best to do my duty to God and my country and to obey the Scout Law; to help other people at all times; to keep myself physically strong, mentally awake, and morally straight.

Scout Law
The Scout Law has 12 points. Each is a goal for every Scout. A Scout tries to live up to the Law every day. It is not always easy to do, but a Scout always tries.

A Scout is:

• TRUSTWORTHY. Tell the truth and keep promises. People can depend on you.
• LOYAL. Show that you care about your family, friends, Scout leaders, school, and country.
• HELPFUL. Volunteer to help others without expecting a reward.
• FRIENDLY. Be a friend to everyone, even people who are very different from you.
• COURTEOUS. Be polite to everyone and always use good manners.
• KIND. Treat others as you want to be treated . Never harm or kill any living thing without good reason.
• OBEDIENT. Follow the rules of your family, school, and pack. Obey the laws of your community and country.
• CHEERFUL. Look for the bright side of life. Cheerfully do tasks that come your way. Try to help others be happy.
• THRIFTY. Work to pay your own way. Try not to be wasteful. Use time, food, supplies, and natural resources wisely.
• BRAVE. Face difficult situations even when you feel afraid. Do what you think is right despite what others might be doing or saying.
• CLEAN. Keep your body and mind fit . Help keep your home and community clean.
• REVERENT. Be reverent toward God. Be faithful in your religious duties. Respect the beliefs of others.

Besides that, our mission is to have:

• We camp.
• We fish.
• We build race cars.
• We build and launch rockets.
• We explore caves and battleships.
• We pursue awards for the fun side of STEM topics.
• We care for our community.

• Chris Weaver, Cubmaster Chris is a Life Scout and former youth member of Scouts New Zealand. He has served as a Den leader for two years with the Pack, and he enjoys campfire programs. • Wendy Spurrier, Comittee Chair Wendy previously served as the advancement chair for three years.
• David Coenen, Chartered Organization Representative This is his second year as the representative for Good Shepherd United Methodist Church
• Joe Moretti, Webelos Den Leader Joe is an Eagle Scout. This is his second year as a Den Leader with the Pack. Before his son joined Cub Scout Pack 201 in 2018, Joe served for ten years as an Assistant Scoutmaster for Scout Troop 204 in Madison, AL. As a youth Scout, he served as a Sumer Camp Counselor and a Vice Chief in the Order of the Arrow, Scouting’s National Honor Society.
• Kristy Smith, Webelos Den Leader Kristy Smith is a stay-at-home-mom with lots of experience working with children through church programs and volunteer work. She has been a Cub Scout Den Leader twice (Wolf and Tiger.) Kristy likes to hike and quilt in her free time. She was born and raised in Washington state, but has also lived in Texas, Oklahoma, Hawaii, Guam and back to Washington before settling in the Huntsville area in Summer 2020.
• Clay Elam, Bear Den Leader This is Clay's fourth year as a Den Leader
• Dustin Inman, Wolf Den Leader This is Dustin's third year as a Den Leader
• Scott Spurrier, Unit Treasurer Scott has served as the Cubmaster for two years, and as a Den Leader for three years before that. In addition to serving this unit, he is an Comittee Member for Trooop 201. He is also a STEM Nova Award Councilor and Supernova Award Mentor For the Greater Alabama Council
• Riannon Stenberg, New Member Coordinator Riannon is the mother to a Webelos scout and enjoys all things outdoors to include gardening, camping, hiking, and shooting sports. She participated in 4-H and Girl Scouts as a child. Her two younger brothers were Eagle Scouts and she helped with their projects when needed. As her son got older, she helped by being an Assistant Den Leader for Tiger and Wolf Dens, the Pack Cub Haunted Coordinator, the Pack Blue & Gold Decoration Lead, a STEM NOVA Counselor, and a STEM Supernova Mentor. This year she is the New Member Coordinator and can help with NOVA and Supernova Awards if your child is interested in learning more in science. Leave No Trace Seven Principles

1. Know Before You Go
   Be prepared! Bring clothes to protect you from cold, heat or rain. Use maps to show you where you'll be going and so you won't get lost. Learn about the areas you visit. Read books and talk to people before you go. The more you know, the more FUN you'll have.
2. Choose The Right Path
   Stay on the main trail to protect nature and keep from wandering off by yourself. Steer clear of flowers or small trees. Once hurt, they may not grow back! Use existing camp areas - camp at least 100 big steps from roads, trails and water.
3. Trash Your Trash
   Pack It In, Pack It Out. Put litter, even crumbs, in trash cans or carry it home. Use bathrooms or outhouses (latrines) when available. If you have to "go," act like a cat and bury poop in a small hole 4-8 inches deep and 100 big steps from water. Place your toilet paper in a plastic bag and put the bag in the garbage can back home. Keep water clean. Keep soap, food, and poop out of lakes and streams.
4. Leave What You Find
   Leave plants, rocks and historical items as you find them so the next person can enjoy them. Treat living plants with respect. Hacking or peeling plants can kill them. Good campsites are found, not made. Avoid digging trenches or building structures in your campsite.
5. Be Careful With Fire
   Use a camp stove for cooking. It's easier to cook on and clean up than a fire. Be sure it's OK to build a campfire in the area that you're visiting. Use an existing fire ring to protect the ground from heat. Keep your fire small. Remember, campfires aren't for trash or food. Avoid snapping branches off live, dead, or downed trees. Instead, collect loose sticks from the ground. Burn all wood to ash and be sure that the fire is completely out and cold before you leave.
6. Respect Wildlife
   Observe animals from a distance and never approach, feed or follow them. Human food is unhealthy for all animals and feeding them starts bad habits. Protect wildlife and your food by storing your meals and trash. Control pets at all times, or leave them at home.
7. Be Kind To Other Visitors
   Make sure the FUN you have in the outdoors does not bother anyone else. Remember that other visitors are there to enjoy the outdoors. Listen to nature. Avoid making loud noises or yelling. You will see more animals if you are quiet.
